Deaf Ministry

Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church Deaf Ministry is here to provide the means for Deaf individuals to know Jesus Christ and their Lord and Savior; to grow into a mature relationship with Him; and to participate in all aspects of worship, ministry and fellowship at SVBC.

In addition, we want to provide the tools and opportunities for the Deaf of SVBC to reach other Deaf individuals in our community and around the world. Because of these goals, our desire is not to have just an “interpreting ministry,” but to see the spiritual development of Deaf leaders who will take the message of Jesus Christ beyond the doors of SVBC.

All Deaf people (any age, race, or religion) are invited to attend every service and activity of SVBC! Interpreters are available upon request (540-868-4020 VA Relay or csales@svca,net). Please pass the word!

  • Currently, the 8:30 a.m. worship service is interpreted for the Deaf every Sunday in the front left side of the sanctuary.
  • The Deaf Bible study class meets by the library in the elementary building at 10:00 a.m.
  • Social events are planned by the Deaf during the Bible study hour.

Prayer Ministry

We want to pray for you!

You may email your prayer requests to Connie, our receptionist, to be added to our prayer chain. If you prefer to keep your request private, Connie will pass it along to our pastors. Just let us know. If you would like one of our deacons or pastors to pray with you in person, you can arrange to have someone visit you in your home by calling the church office (540-868-4020) or emailing Connie ( This email address is being protected from spambots. What the Bible says about prayer in Matthew 6:5-8…

And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.

Jesus’ Model Prayer in Matthew 6:9-15…

In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
